1. Import files if not already imported.
2. Select the multi-cam files (several videos of the same event). Right click and select “Synchronize Clips”.
3. The clips will appear in the Event Browser as a compound clip. Drag the compound clip to the Timeline.
4. The clips will appear merged on a single track. To break them apart for further editing, right click and select “Break Apart Clip Items”.
5. The clips are now synchronized and on their own tracks.
6. This first clip (recorded on an iPhone) switched orientation during recording and needs to be adjusted.
7. Before we begin editing the clip, we need to right click and detach the audio so that it is not affected.
8. Select the Blade tool (B)
9. Use the Blade tool to split the clip before and after the camera rotates. The middle clip (footage of the camera rotating) can be deleted.
10. The clip on the left is oriented correctly, but, because it is portrait, does not fill the screen. Scaling up would fix this problem, but at the expense of resolution. For now we’ll leave it as it is, while keeping in mind that it may not work very well by itself.
11. The clip on the right (landscape) needs to be rotated into its appropriate position and then scaled up to fill the screen. Select the clip and use the Inspector to adjust the rotation (90 degrees) and scale (180%).
12. Barring some exposure issues, the clip is now ready to be edited along with the other clips. See Part 2 for a description of this process.
