Technology and Culture
Culture serves as a Highway for thought , (assume this as an axiom for the ideas below)
1. Consider ‘Digital Culture’ – example: new highway (the roads are new (and clean), sometimes the routes and not there yet, sometimes they are not well built and people don’t know how to use them, freshness is an asset (exciting/entertaining) , but its easier to make a mess and use inappropriately)
2. Media/webspace as ‘Sense Making’ – example: video, blog, store – people make sense of it gains more meaning as it goes across different world cultures, perhaps even to a new ‘digital culture’
Does the world become more egalitarian or is it a place to create more places to compete for advantages? -i.e. If a mix (which I think it is) How does one teach responsibility with the technology? bringing about question 3:
3. What is a Digital Citizen?, example: Are there DIgital Rights? (like bill of rights), who protects that? What are the checks and balances? Isn’t it easier for some entity to control or drive the Internet or is is less easy because its decentralized and can spring together? or can it be controlled by corporations/governments too easily? Perhaps its even matrix-managed by those entities?
