Hey here are things I ‘learned’ and what Kids received
1) I have become increasingly more sophisticated in talking to teachers (using their own concepts ideas more fluidly) for advocating for my kids
2). The content only matters if engaging and we do that out of school. We use a REND paradigm= Reflection, Engagement and No Distraction as a mnemonic on our teaching approach.
3) peer teaching helps the learning…. kids are peers and teachers are their own peers
4) met cool people (well since our goal is to connect kids with people that do that profession).
5) one teacher per 2-4 kids works. Close to tutoring than mass broadcasted teaching.
6) need help organizing and focusing, but it’s not super critical since its labor of love and for kids not to make money.
7) Started seven years ago on helping kids build (mostly craft that included robotics and electronics) … Branched from then about 5 years ago and understood that story leads motivation and is reachable in younger kids … Writing and art are also craft of expression… Added it with social and engage with society
8) Kids learn for fun without testing which is the focus of school. Some kids can now build confidently on their own. Can they write for fun and pleasure instead of assignment. This is a major motif/goal for the moment.
